Why I Blog Into the Void

I started blogging because I wanted a daily writing habit. I’ve stuck with it for five months now. It helps me think. It helps me explore. I write the posts I wish existed. The ones I want to read. That can be challenging, but it keeps me honest.

As a multipotentialite, I’m always chasing new ideas. Writing lets me follow those threads without losing myself. It’s also a way to hear my own voice. To leave a trail. I’m not writing for clicks. I’m building something that will last and is my own, not inside someone else’s corporate talk-o-sphere.

Eventually, I want to retire and be a full-time artist. When that happens, I want to look back and see a rich archive of thoughts already there.

But lately I’ve been wondering who’s actually reading. More and more, the web feels like it’s shifting toward AI agents crawling and summarizing, while actual human conversations happen inside walled gardens like Discord or Facebook. It’s easy to feel like I’m publishing into a void.

I turned off comments early on to protect my time and energy. But now, with my newsletter going out to friends, I’m thinking about turning them back on. I miss the feeling of connection. Even a small response is a sign that someone saw what I wrote and felt something.

So yes, the web is changing. Maybe most of my readers will eventually be bots. But I’ll keep writing anyway. Because I still want to be heard. And I still want to hear myself.

It’s riveting truly, how you pour your mind into every newsletter about what living means to you, and what about it matters. Please know that I read every single one.
