I’m back!
I took a break from blogging, primarily to focus on the why of art. And what I came away with was this: don’t think, just do. (and stop asking why!)
This isn’t new to me… I just needed to remind myself of that.
In the time I was away, I buckled down and worked on three projects (yes, just three!).
The first was to construct a dozen catenary poles for my model railroad. This is something I had been itching to do for a couple of years, and the urge became great enough that I just sat down, made a sample to remind myself of the process, then knocked out eleven more. Four of them are already up on the layout.
Second, I took an online music theory course from Will Darling’s EDM Tips. This is an excellent course. It’s no-nonsense, very focused, and gives just enough theory to create dance music. Nothing extraneous. I really like Will’s emphasis on the basics.
Third, I created a box assemblage as a self-portrait of multipotentiality. This came out of my assemblage workshop I presented to the Puttyverse, for which we had a show-and-tell a few weeks after the workshop. Making it felt really vulnerable, much more than I expected. But I’m really happy with the way it turned out.
I’ll be blogging more about all of these in the coming weeks.
