I went to a tribute for Mike Krukow and Duane Kuiper, and it was everything I hoped it would be. It was a special look into the lives of two men who seem like friends who come into your home for every game. Jesse Thorn hosted and asked them about how they met, became friends, and got into broadcasting. It felt like sitting in on a conversation between two old pals… except they happen to be Giants legends.

The crowd was mostly longtime fans, and everyone was locked in. Kruk and Kuip were hilarious, full of stories, and generous with behind-the-scenes details. They talked about the difference between calling games on radio vs TV, and what it takes to be a great color analyst. We also got to see video clips of their greatest moments, both in the booth and goofing off.

It reminded me how lucky we are to have them as the voices of summer. I’m so glad I went.
