Why I Appreciate Co-Active Coaches
I have spent a lot of time coaching with Co-Active coaches because I want to understand my own habits better. They have a specific way of listening that catches things I completely miss about myself. I often tell them about my day and they notice when my actions and behaviors don’t actually align with what I say I value.
It is common for me to have a total blind spot regarding these mismatches. I might talk about valuing quiet time while describing a schedule that is packed from dawn until dusk. They point these moments out without judgment and ask why I think that is happening.
One thing I really enjoy is that they do not try to be the expert in my life or my specific projects. They don’t come to the coaching call with a plan to fix me, because they assume I am already resourceful and creative. This approach feels very different from traditional consulting or advice.
We spend our time looking at patterns that are not serving me very well. Once I see the pattern, I can start creating new ones that actually work for my goals. It feels like a collaborative effort to get me back on my own track.
I am in awe of their listening skills. And I enjoy the homework they design for me. These small assignments reinforce what I learn during our conversation so it sticks in my daily life. It makes the whole experience feel practical rather than just theoretical.
Have you ever worked with a coach who helped you see a pattern you were totally missing? I would love to hear about your experience in the comments.
