I Want To Interrogate My Books Like NotebookLM
NotebookLM has been a game changer. Drop in a YouTube video or a dense PDF, and boom. Instant clarity. No more wasting 30 minutes on an explainer when I just need the TL;DR.
But books? They’re a different beast.
When I’m reading, I want answers in the moment. What does this word mean? Who is this character again? Where did they show up last, and what were they doing? In fiction, I don’t want spoilers. In non-fiction, give me everything.
Imagine an ebook reader that gets that.
An AI sidekick built into your reader. One that understands where you are in the story. It could offer context-sensitive prompts like:
“Want a quick recap of the last three chapters?”
“Need a reminder of who that character last spoke to?”
“Curious how this ties into the bigger plot?”
Mystery novel? Activate Detective Mode. Track clues and red herrings without spoiling the twist.
Studying a dense non-fiction? Flip into Study Mode. Auto-generate flashcards as you read.
This is the kind of tool I want. Not just a reader. An interrogator. A partner in storycraft or study.
It’s not here yet. At least, I haven’t found a good one yet. Myreader.ai seems like a start but I want it as an app on my iPad.
I bet it won’t be too long before a good reader app shows up.
